There are differing accounts as to the origin of Valentine’s Day. According to one, Valentine was a Roman priest during the third century who protested Emperor Claudius II’s ban on marriage. The Emperor thought that single men made better soldiers, thus he outlawed marriage. Valentine was put to death for his protests.
