Did you know that February is Children’s Dental Health Month? Atlanta dentists, Dr. Leslie Hehir and Dr. G. Ed Wheeler are working with their young patients and their parents this month to educate them on dental health. Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children’s Dental Health Month to raise awareness on the importance of oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. Dr. Hehir and Dr. Wheeler place a strong emphasis on family and want parents and children to follow these simple rules to maintain good dental health?
· Brush at least twice a day to remove plaque, which can lead to cavities if not removed.
· Floss daily to help remove food debris from in between the teeth that a toothbrush can’t reach.
· Eat healthy and nutritious foods and limit the intake of sugary carbonated drinks.
· Visit your dentist for regular check-ups and cleanings.
· Fluoride treatments twice a year are very beneficial in preventing tooth decay.
· Sealants can be applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth and premolars. Sealants help to prevent tooth decay.
The office is located at 2680 Freedom Parkway and is open Monday through Thursday from 8:40 to 5:00 and until 1:00 on Friday
Both Georgia natives, Dr. Hehir and Dr. Wheeler have a well-established family dentistry practice in Cumming with patients ranging from 3 to 100. The only practice located between Dawsonville and Exit 16, their office employs 3 hygienists specializing in children. The office has a special children’s game room to keep kids entertained while they wait and boasts an atmosphere that feels more like a home than a medical facility so kids are made to feel comfortable and relaxed. For the grownup patients, a combination of old school practice and the latest technology are fused together in a professional, spa like atmosphere. They specialize in comprehensive and preventative care, and services also include cosmetic dentistry, veneers, and oral surgery, as well as the latest way to detect and protect against oral cancer.
