Forsyth County citizens brought 66,342 pounds of electronics to be recycled during the “Recycle Your Old Electronics and Shoes” event hosted November 21 by Keep Forsyth County Beautiful (KFCB).

Personal computers topped the list of electronics with 822. Citizens also brought 333 monitors and 138 televisions to be recycled.

“We were excited about the response to the recycling event,” Community Outreach specialist Kevin D. Smith said. “We had 546 cars line up to drop off electronics during the event. This is the most ever.”

KFCB also collected more than 4,000 pairs of shoes. In addition to accepting shoes at the recycling event November 21, KFCB asked the county’s 35 schools to help in collecting shoes. All donated shoes will be distributed around the world through Soles4Souls.
