If you missed the Lambert High School Soccer fundraiser you missed a first-class speaker and an excellent time.

Dec. 3rd Lambert High School hosted a silent auction for sports memorabilia and had Dan Reeves speak during a catered dinner by Jim N Nicks BBQ.

Preparations for the event began right after school and a little before 6:00 pm the crowd started rolling in. There was an estimated 300 people or so that attended the event. Each person had an hour to look over the impressive display of things to be auctioned. There was everything from autographed pictures, to team helmets, to electric guitars available for bidding.

Charles McGahey played the saxophone during the auction for everyone to enjoy.

George Rogers, former Heisman Trophy winner with South Carolina University, was also there at 6:00 pm. He had a booth set up where people could get their picture made with him and his Heisman Trophy. He was very cordial to everyone that spoke to him, not mention how strikingly remarkable the Heisman Trophy itself was.

Around 7:00 pm the lines for the catered BBQ were opened up. They had an abundance of food with plenty to spare.

As everyone was finishing up their dinner Dan Reeves, former NFL player and coach took the stand and began to speak. He started by telling a couple very funny jokes.

Mr. Reeves then went into telling a short story about playing football when he was young and how his father taught him a life lesson he would never forget, never quit.

He then moved in to telling stories about his college playing days at South Carolina. He told about how he decided to go there about a little about his experiences while he was there.

He spent a bulk of his speech talking about playing in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys under Coach Tom Landry. Reeves drew a lot of inspiration from this time even though it was cut short by a severe knee injury.

He finished talking a little about his coaching days, but added a faith and values lesson that was very inspirational.

There was time left for some questions from the audience in which Coach Reeves answered.

A video of the occasion will be posted soon, so be on the lookout and make sure you don’t miss this very inspiring event a second time.
