Cumming, GA.—The Forsyth County-based Center for Mediation, Peace, and Resolution of Conflict (CEMPROC) will host the fourth annual Taste of Latin America benefit dinner and celebration on Saturday, September 12th at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy live entertainment from various countries, sample zesty dishes from all around Latin America prepared in buffet style by local chefs, browse a silent auction featuring indigenous handicrafts and other items, and relax in the beautiful setting of tranquil Cane Creek Farm in western Forsyth County.
Children will enjoy all of the festivities as well, including some special surprises especially for kids: hay rides, farm animals, and the International Day of Peace children’s art display. To order tickets and see the details for the event, go online to http://www.cemproc.org/dinner.htm or call 770-889-3793 or 443-286-9843.
Tickets are $25.00 for adults, and $12.50 for children under 12. The cost of one ticket could provide training and materials so that a dozen children in Forsyth County can learn about effective and nonviolent conflict resolution. When a couple buys tickets, they are providing sufficient support to allow an Ecuadorian indigenous religious leader to receive an intensive 20-hour practicum in peace and conflict resolution in church life.
Past years’ events were attended by sold-out crowds of up to 140 people from over 18 different countries, raising thousands of dollars for peacebuilding work in the U.S. and Latin America. CEMPROC Executive Director Jeff Pugh said, “The Taste of Latin America dinner is one of my favorite times of year. When else can you eat great food, meet a bunch of diverse and interesting people from around the world, enjoy festive entertainment, and help promote world peace all in one evening?” Held just a few days before the U.N.-recognized International Day of Peace, this year’s event promises to continue the successful tradition. We invite everyone to a fun-filled evening, while contributing to the international cause of peace. Together with the community, CEMPROC is creating peacemakers…one person at a time.
