Americans for Prosperity Launches Georgia State Chapter

The national free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) this week launched its Georgia state chapter – its 16th nationally – and named veteran grassroots political operative Jared Thomas its Georgia State Director.
“As somebody who has chosen to raise my family in the great State of Georgia, it is a personal honor for me to help launch Americans for Prosperity’s new state chapter today,” said Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips, a resident of Johns Creek. “Jared Thomas is a solid fiscally conservative leader who is committed to lowering taxes, reining in government spending and bringing free-market reforms to education and health care. We’re going to work together to help Georgia’s hard-working taxpayers make their power felt in Atlanta.”
In just over two years of existence, Americans for Prosperity has already chalked up a number of major victories on the state level, such as helping defeat proposed tax hikes in Kansas and Oklahoma, limiting taxpayer-funded lobbying in Texas and becoming the national grassroots leader in promoting state constitutional tax-and-spending limits from coast to coast. Americans for Prosperity’s Georgia chapter has also set an ambitious agenda, which includes scheduling grassroots training seminars, signing up citizen activists, and highlighting wasteful government spending.
“Americans for Prosperity has been protecting taxpayers across the nation and I am thrilled that they have set up shop in Georgia,” Jared Thomas said. “I am deeply honored to have been asked to team up with such an outstanding, effective organization, and I am looking forward to fighting the good fight for the people of Georgia.”
