The County Committee of the Forsyth County Democratic Party voted on Wednesday to support and campaign for the SPLOST measure this November. The Special Local Option Sales Tax renewal will provide the capital cost for construction of four new schools in the county over the next five years, in addition to investing in improvements to North Forsyth High School.
“Forsyth County Democrats believe that renewing the SPLOST for our schools is vitally important to our county. Keeping pace with our explosive growth requires that we make a commitment to grow the infrastructure of our education system. SPLOST represents the responsible approach to making that commitment,” said Jon Flack, Chairman of the Forsyth County Democratic Party.
Flack went on to say, “Forsyth County without a SPLOST would face incredibly difficult choices of how to maintain and strengthen our public schools. Without SPLOST, our choices would indeed be dire; not to build critically important infrastructure or to use property taxes to fund that construction should both be non-starters to the citizens of this county.”
The Forsyth County Democrats plan to campaign and raise voter awareness of the SPLOST measure over the remaining days to the election. To get involved or stay up to date on the local party’s activities, visit http://www.forsythdemocrats.info
