Forsyth County will be conducting a Job Fair on Thursday, September 14, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to introduce the new state-of-the-art Public Safety Complex and recruit for the Sheriff’s Office, 911 Center and Fire Department.
The County has immediate openings for:
Deputy Sheriff I. High school diploma or GED; no previous experience required. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must obtain and maintain Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Jail Officer Training certification. Must be certified in basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). May be required to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a GCIC/NCIC certification. May be required to attain and maintain other certifications as related to position. Must be 18 years of age.
Deputy Sheriff II. Requires a High school diploma or GED; six (6) months previous experience and/or training in law enforcement or as an officer in a corrections/detention facility; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must pass and maintain current Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements as a Peace Officer. Must be qualified to operate a firearm. Will be required to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a GCIC/NCIC certification. May be required to attain and maintain other certifications as related to position or for specialized areas of assignment. Must be 21 years of age.
Communications Officer I (Dispatcher). Requires a High School Diploma or GED, must successfully pass a background investigation and type a minimum of 30 wpm.
Communications Officer II (Dispatcher). Requires a High School Diploma; supplemented by little or no previous experience or training. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Peace Office Standards & Training (POST) Communications Officer and Emergency Medical Dispatcher certifications. Must possess and maintain valid CPR/First Aid certification. Must successfully pass a background investigation and must obtain GCIC/NCIC Terminal Operator certification within six (6) months of hire date. Typing speed of 30 words per minute required.
Communications Officer II (Part-Time). Requires a High School Diploma; supplemented by little or no previous experience or training. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Peace Office Standards & Training (POST) Communications Officer and Emergency Medical Dispatcher certifications. Must possess and maintain valid CPR/First Aid certification. Must successfully pass a background investigation and must obtain GCIC/NCIC Terminal Operator certification within six (6) months of hire date. Typing speed of 30 words per minute required. Part-time positions can work up to 29 hours per week with no benefits.
Applications for the annual Fire Fighter positions will be available after January 1, 2007 on the county’s Web site under Employment. Fire Fighters must be 21 years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, not be convicted of a felony in the past 10 years, must be of good moral character as determined by investigation, must possess and maintain or obtain, upon hire, a valid Georgia driver’s license.
