Getting in the way OVERNIGHTS Next Week…
Lane Closures on SR 20 Widening Project
October 12, 2006
GAINESVILLE – Georgia DOT announces overnight lane closures on State Route 20 next week to facilitate the widening of State Route 20 in Forsyth County.
“As part of the widening project currently under construction along State Route 20 in Cumming we will have to close one of the eastbound lanes of 20 from Ronald Reagan Parkway to State Route 400 so the pavement can be leveled.” explained Teri Pope, DOT Communications Officer. “The overnight work is scheduled for Tuesday the 17th, Wednesday the 18th, Thursday the 19th and Friday the 20th. Barrels and signs will be in place to alert motorists but the best thing you can do is to avoid the area.”
The overnight work hours are 8:00pm overnight to 5:00am the next morning. At least one lane will remain open at all times but congestion will occur. If we have weather delays work will likely occur the following week or as weather permits. “Its not just good weather for the nights the work is planned but we must have good weather each day before the work occurs so crews can get everything ready for the overnight work,” said Pope. “We hope we can get in and get done and out of the way quickly but we do have Friday night work scheduled so please know there will be delays in the area and give yourself extra time.”
