A one-of-a-kind motorcycle, that is being raffled as a fund-raiser by the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association, and valued at over $70,000, was hand-built by Tim Harris of Harris Custom Cycles in Washington, GA (www.harriscustomcycles.com). The engine, which develops over 100 horsepower, was custom-built for this project by S&S Cycle in Viola, WI (www.sscycle.com).
The custom paint job was done by famed artist Latisha Wood, owner of Flames of Steel in Covington, GA (www.flamesofsteel.com). Ms. Wood has been featured many times on the Discovery Channel’s “American Chopper” series. She is well known in custom bike builder circles.
Proceeds from the bike raffle benefit various programs of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association, including the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes (www.georgiasheriffsyouth.org) and a fund to benefit the families of Georgia law enforcement officers who are killed in the line of duty.
This year’s raffle marks the fifth year the Sheriffs’ Association has raffled a motorcycle.
Tickets for the motorcycle are $2.00 each -- or 15 tickets for $20 -- and are available at the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at 101 E. Main Street in Cumming. You do not have to be present at the drawing to win. Tickets will also be available at the Sheriff’s Office annual poker run, slated for October 14.
The drawing will be held on November 4, 2006, at the "Toys for Boys" motorcycle ride in Swainsboro, GA. You do not have to be present to win.
Anyone desiring more information about the raffle or this year’s poker run may contact Capt. Frank Huggins at (770) 781-3045.
