Ten New Firefighers Join Forsyth County Fire Department

The Forsyth County Fire Department welcomed ten new firefighters to the department on Friday, August 18, 2006. Ten recruits graduated in a ceremony that was held in the North Forsyth High School Auditorium.

The recruits’ extensive training began on May 1 and included:

· Georgia Basic Firefighter Training Program

· Hazardous Materials Training

· Emergency Medical Training

· Fire Safety Educators

· Georgia Forestry Certified as Wildland Type II Firefighters

· Georgia Fire Academy Training

o Pressurized Container Fire Control

o Structural Fire Control

o Flammable & Combustible Liquids Fire Control

o Interior Search and Rescue

o Fire Engine Pump Service Testing

o Vehicle Extrication Training

  • Awareness training was given for the following disciplines:
    • Rope Rescue
    • Trench Rescue
    • Confined Space
    • Water Rescue
    • Weapons of Mass Destruction/Terrorism
