For 18 years, the Christmas season in Atlanta has included the lighting of the Christmas tree atop Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs. This year, Northside Hospital will continue its tradition of lighting the December sky with its annual Christmas tree lighting on Saturday, Dec. 2, 4:30-6:30 p.m. This will be the sixth year for the glowing tree at the Northside/Alpharetta Medical Campus, the fourth year at Northside Hospital-Forsyth and the 18th year of the celebration at Northside Hospital in Sandy Springs.
Although all three trees will be lit on the same night this year, the festivals held previously at each location have been combined into one fantastic celebration at Northside Hospital-Forsyth, 1200 Northside Forsyth Drive, in Cumming.
Everyone is invited to join in the celebration, as Northside Hospital rings in the holidays with food, face painters, clowns and entertainment from local school bands, choruses and dancers. The big man himself, Santa Claus, also will be there to take pictures with the children.
Mike this celebration a day-long family event. Be sure to visit the Cumming Christmas Parade & Festival, too, that precedes Northside's Celebration of Lights on December 2. Festivities kick off at 12:30 p.m., and the Parade flows along Market Place Boulevard, culminating at Northside Hospital-Forsyth, just in time for the Celebration of Lights festivities.
Proceeds from Northside’s Celebration of Lights benefit the Northside Hospital Cancer Care Program. Did you know that more cases of cancer are diagnosed and/or treated at Northside Hospital than at any other hospital in Atlanta? Lights on the trees can be purchased in honor or memory of someone who has been affected by cancer. For information on purchasing a light for someone you love, please contact the Northside Hospital Foundation at 404-851-8389.
