Five of the top winners in the LivingGreenPages.com and Reaping Nature Productions' Be an "Enviro Hero" contest attend Forsyth County Schools. Students from Daves Creek Elementary, Cornerstone Schools, South Forsyth Middle and Coal Mountain Elementary submitted entries in written, drawn and photographed format to the contest.
"The entries had to inspire, involve and educate others about environmental awareness," said Reaping Nature Productions co-founder, Denise Carleton. "The twist was that they had to use one, two or all three of our characters, Petunia Garner, Echo the Squirrel or George the Prince of Green, in the entry."
Cash prizes were donated by the contest's sponsor, Team Honda and Team Toyota of Lithia Springs, and the Georgia Conservancy donated memberships to their organization. Winners also received a gift basket of original merchandise from Reaping Nature Productions. The following winners were announced on Sunday, November 15 at the Enviro Expo in Atlanta:
First place: Ally Bagby (written) and Prerana Dewan (drawn) Second place: Amelia Westmoreland (written) and Lilly Cooper (drawn) Third place: Chris
Bagby (photography) and Theresa Saindon (drawn) Honorable mentions: Isabelle Collerette, Madison Martin, Ensley Cook, Campbell Key and Stewart
Key.
"I was so happy winning the contest, I truly thank you for developing a better sense of responsibility towards our total environment and earth, I learned so many things from you, I love what you are doing, as you tell us we should help our earth from global warming and preserve the environment," said Prerana Dewan. "Thanks for giving me beautiful gifts and organizing contest, I had great time."
