Forsyth County Man Promoted to GDOT Area Engineer for Dawson, Forsyth and Hall Counties

GAINESVILLE, Ga.  – Georgia Department of Transportation District Engineer, Russell McMurry is proud to announce Matt Needham as Area Engineer for Dawson, Forsyth and Hall Counties.

Needham began working with Georgia DOT in 2002 as part of the Transportation Engineering Associates Training Program. In March of 2004, he was promoted to a Construction Project Engineer. In 2007, Needham was named Assistant Area Engineer for Construction for Gwinnett and Barrow counties.  In addition; Matt also served as Project Engineer on the I-85 at State Route 316 Interchange Reconstruction and High Occupancy Vehicle lane extension in Gwinnett County.

As Area Engineer, he will be responsible for all construction and maintenance activities on over 300 centerline miles of interstates and state routes in Dawson, Forsyth and Hall Counties.

Needham graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.

“Matt is an excellent employee,” explained McMurry. “I am confident he is the right person for this job. Together with his leadership and work ethic, he is an asset to the citizens of Georgia and will work diligently to improve our transportation system.”

Matt is a native of Georgia. He and his wife Lindsey live in Cumming.
