Work Completed

1.      Paving from Sharon Road to Ronald Reagan Parkway is finished

2.      Ramps to and from SR 400 were shifted to allow more room for road work to occur

3.      Traffic was split on August 17, 2009

4.      Paving for the Old Alpharetta Road intersection relocation is complete as of September 3, 2009

Upcoming Work

1.       Work continues to prepare for the upcoming relocation of the Old Alpharetta intersection with SR 141

·         Signals must be adjusted

·         Guide wires must be relocated by the Utility company then guardrail will be installed to separate the remaining guide wires from traffic

·         Will be placing additional aggregate on SR 141 from the first driveway at Big Creek Elementary School to Old Alpharetta

·         The relocated Old Alpharetta intersection must be paved to tie into SR 141

2.      Crews continue to work the sub grade from First Redeemer Church to Big Creek Elementary School

3.      Work at the intersection of Caney Road and Brookwood Road and at SR 141 and Brookwood Road

·         A detour will be required for work at the intersections of Brookwood Road west and  Caney Road due to significant change in elevation from existing road to new road to make a much flatter intersection

·         Approximately 500 feet of Caney Road will be closed at the intersection with Brookwood. This closure will begin Monday, September 21and last until October 23, weather permitting. The detour route will be Caney Road west to Old Alpharetta Road to SR 141. Caney will be upgraded and then will be used as a detour route while Brookwood Road at SR 141 is being upgraded later this fall.

4.      SR 141 from Sharon Road to Bagley Road

·         The next major segment is from Sharon to Bagley Road.  Some of the paving is complete and most all of the drainage is complete in this area. Currently two grading crews are removing the old road bed and grading to new roadway elevations.  The remaining paving will be completed except for the last critical piece at Brookwood.  The work at Brookwood Road requires an all out effort to close the south or west side of Brookwood to remove about 10 to 15 feet of existing road before traffic on the new SR 141 can pass through this area.  All of this work is planned to be complete before Thanksgiving.  This moves traffic from its current location to the southbound lanes for this segment to allow existing SR 141 to be reconstructed.

5.      Granite Lane along SR 141 to Beazer Homes entrance reworking profile to minimize impacts to residents, keep traffic flowing and keep more area at intersection – working details of plan now

Project is currently 71% complete. Rains last week and this week have slowed work down – not able to grass and do sub grade work.

The supplemental agreement between GDOT and the contractor is now approved. This agreement gives price adjustments to meet market prices, allows for temporary signals at Sharon Road, Old Alpharetta Road, Brookwood Road and Brookwood Road/Martin Place. It also gives us a new completion date of December 31, 2010.
