The Georgia Department of Transportation will begin testing of the new traffic signal at the intersection of State Route 369/Browns Bridge Road and Jot-Em-Down Road this afternoon.
The new signal for the intersection of SR 369 and Jot-Em-Down Road is scheduled to go into flash or test mode mid-afternoon today. If testing goes well, the signal will be operational Tuesday, December 22.
Each intersection is reviewed to determine if the intersection meets the Federal guidelines for the installation of a traffic signal. The intersection of SR 369 and Jot-Em-Down Road met those requirements.
DOT and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will monitor the area to ensure drivers are following the new traffic signal.
“Once the signal is operational, please use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location. Remember to watch out for other drivers until they get used to the new signal too,” Georgia DOT Interim District Engineer Todd McDuffie said.
Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other construction project on interstates and state routes. Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real-time traffic and travel information statewide, such as traffic conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays due to inclement weather. Callers also can transfer to operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information is available at www.511ga.org.
