In their second competitive season, the Cumming Recreation and Parks Department Gymsations Boys’ Team placed 2nd at the state meet held in Cobb County on March 15, 2009. This is an awesome finish!
The boys’ team is coached by Mike Wyneth, who has been coaching gymnastics for 25 years, being a professional member of USA Gymnastics all of those years.
Contributing to the team’s win were gymnasts: Nicky Becnel, Will and Cass Benson, Peter Campfield, Thomas Enny, Alex Kincaid, Nelson Land, Jonathan Marciniak, Joe Sikes, and Nick Toledano. Peter Campfield took 1st Place All-Around, Nick Toledano took 2nd Place All-Around, and Alex Kincaid took 3rd Place All-Around in their respective age groups.
Nick finished 1st on Pommel Horse and Rings, Alex was 1st on Floor and High Bar, and Peter was 1st on Parallel Bars. So, that adds 5 more state champion titles to the program. Congratulations to the boys’ team for a spectacular season and an outstanding finish. We are very proud of your accomplishments.
Special congratulations to Thomas Enny, who despite being sick with the flu, competed in two events. His score on the pommel horse was instrumental in their second place finish! At the end of June, three members of the boys’ team, Peter, Alex, and Nick, will be headed to Nationals which will be held in Savannah, Georgia.
