The U16 Fusion Shockers continued a very successful season with a decisive ASA Cup victory the weekend of November 21-22nd, defeating ASA's own undefeated Xplosion team in a finals shootout.
The Shockers dropped their first match of the tournament 1 - 2 against a hand-picked ASA Xplosion that had gone undefeated the entire regular season. However, the Shockers rallied themselves for a 2 - 1 win over league rivals AFU Cheetahs in their 2nd match. The Shockers then needed a 2nd win against ASA Rockets in order to meet Xplosion in the finals. The Shockers handily defeated Rockets 8 - 0, setting the stage for a dramatic rematch for the Cup finals. With the final being decided on a penalty shootout, backup Keeper Grayce Williams came up with two big saves, and joined six teammates in scoring a 6 - 5 victory over a very surprised ASA Xplosion.
Saturday, the U16 Shockers travel with sister team, the U14 Shockers, to Athens, Georgia, for the prestigious Athens Finale Cup.
