Thanksgiving Day:
What better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than with a delightful brunch in the historic Grand Dining Room of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel (11:00 a.m. – 2:30 pm.), or in the charming Courtyard at Crane Cottage (11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.). This annual tradition is always a sellout, as over 1200 guests enjoy an exquisite presentation of salads and appetizers, omelets and waffles, carving stations, a variety of vegetables and delicious accompaniments – all highlighted by delectable desserts.
If you prefer to enjoy your Thanksgiving meal later in the day, the Grand Dining Room will be serving Thanksgiving dinner from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., while Crane Cottage will be offering an a la carte menu. For families who want to share private, quality time together, the hotel offers wonderful exclusive dining spaces. Reservations are required for all meals and space is limited, so call right away!
Christmas Festivities:
Start the Christmas holidays with gusto by attending the annual Jekyll Island Christmas Tree Lighting on Nov. 28th at 4:30 p.m. Join the joyous crowd in welcoming Santa Clause to town on the beautiful lawn of the Jekyll Island Club Hotel in the Historic District.
On December 2nd at 4:00 p.m., view the Jekyll Island Club Hotel in all of its Christmas finery. A guide will escort you on a candlelight tour of the Grand Dining Room, lobby, and all public areas.
From December 5th thru December 31st, venture on a journey back through time to see how Christmas was celebrated from the Victorian Era to the Jazz Age. This delightful “Holidays in History” tour will take you inside the cottages of Jekyll Island’s National Historic Landmark District so you can experience the holidays as they were observed in years gone by.
On December 5th at 10:00 a.m., the Jekyll Island Club Hotel’s famous pastry chefs will be hosting a gingerbread-house-making workshop. This two-hour event is always a holiday favorite. Put your very own gingerbread house together, ice it, decorate it, and take it home and enjoy it!
On December 12th, you are invited to gather in the Boar’s Head Lounge at 7:30 p.m. for a toast to Christmas Present. Follow the merrymakers into the Grand Dining Room for a holiday feast and musical dinner theatre. The performance, which is based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and features the Atlanta Acting Company, stars Tiny Tim and a host of other traditional characters.
On December 13th, Jolly Old Saint Nick will be making another appearance on Jekyll Island. This time he'll be entertaining children with a hearty “ho-ho-ho” and engaging Christmas stories. Plan to enjoy lunch at the Courtyard at Crane before or after your visit with Santa!
Between December 19th and 24th, leading up to Christmas Day, Scottish bagpiper Tim Akins will honor the season by playing traditional holiday favorites. Join him in parading from the Cottages to the Riverfront Veranda, culminating with a last salute on the banks of the Jekyll River as the sun sets.
At 5:30 p.m. on December 23rd, don your hats and mufflers and meet on the Riverfront Veranda. Lustily sing your favorite carols while strolling from Crane and Cherokee Cottages to the Jekyll Island Club and Sans Souci.
