When you crank up your motorcycle for Tristan’s Dice Run on August 16, 2009, your entry fee will support a volunteer organization called Angel Flight.  This means that every mile you drive helps provide free air transportation to anyone who needs special medical care that is not available in their local area.  

The volunteer pilots of Angel Flight fly so that no one is denied potentially life-saving treatment simply because they cannot afford the travel costs or who are otherwise unable to travel via public means.  The community is invited to come and enjoy a great ride and help Angel Flight fly missions offering hope to the hundreds of patients being served.

Tristan’s Dice Run Motorcycle Ride is a labor of love organized by Tristan’s father, Bill Anastasio and the Blue Knights Police Motorcycle Group. Sergeant Anastasio was inspired to put together a benefit motorcycle ride to raise money for Angel Flight so that other sick kids can get flights to medical facilities. 

Anastasio is a Roswell police officer and has been an officer for twenty-five years and a member of the Blue Knights Police Motorcycle Group. Last year his infant son, Tristan, was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation/Brain Compression.  It is a condition that pushes the brain against its stem, and Tristan was in constant pain. He had to be fed through a tube, and his mother and Bill thought they were going to lose him. He needed major surgery which needed to take place in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was only five months old.

Anastasio could not take Tristan on a commercial airline due to cabin pressure, and the road trip was too long for a sick infant.  Angel Flight flew the family to Cincinnati for surgery and again for a follow-up visit in March, 2009, at no expense to the Anastasios.  According to the family, Tristan's surgery was nothing short of miraculous. He is healing and developing at a great rate. Anastasio said, “I could not be any more grateful, and Angel Flight is truly our lifesaver.”

Tristan's Dice Run takes off from Killer Creek Harley Davidson in Roswell on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.  The ride will make several stops in North Fulton, Cherokee and Forsyth counties.  At each stop, the rider will toss five dice and get a score, then ride to the next stop. The last stop will take place at Ethyl's in the Andretti's complex in Roswell. At the end of the ride, the rider with the highest score wins $300, second place awards $200, and other prizes will be awarded as well. Door prizes and t-shirts will be given away, and the entrance fee of $25 includes a memorable ride and a t-shirt (first 100 registrants). 

The Angel Flight philosophy holds that travel should never stand in the way of receiving medical care, and the group's volunteer pilots are ready to act as angels in the lives of others. Angel Flight is totally committed to their mission of removing the obstacle of transportation for individuals with medical and financial needs. Therefore, these pilots will take flight to get patients to the hope of lifesaving treatment.
