Autumn Callahan, a freshman at Dawson County High School, was honored at the Dawson County Board of Commissioners meeting Thursday.
Named Keep Dawson County Beautiful Youth Ambassador of 2009, the 15 year old Callahan proudly accepted the certificate presented by KDCB Chairman Karen Armstrong.
In her presentation to the Board KDCB Executive Director Cathy Brooks noted many of Callahan’s accomplishments including her promotion of recycling in the community.
“Autumn is one of our strongest proponents of recycling,” said Brooks. “She teaches the importance of recycling to others, placed second in district 4H competition with the Dawson County single-stream program, has participated in numerous KDCB events, and single-handedly implemented recycling programs at the county extension office and at several businesses at the outlet mall.”
Callahan expressed her gratitude for the recognition.
Brooks said, “Autumn is a remarkable young lady. We value her involvement with Keep Dawson County Beautiful and the community.”
