Hugh and Louise Geeslin, residents of Dawson County for the past 25 years, are being named the Dawson County Chairpersons of the Stephens for Congress campaign. Former State Senate Majority Leader Bill Stephens is seeking the GOP nomination, and eventually the 9th Congressional District seat currently held by Congressman Nathan Deal, who is seeking the Governor's office in 2010.
Mrs. Geeslin says, "I trust Bill Stephens, he's conservative, and he's got the experience."
A retired banker from Roswell Bank Group, Mr. Geeslin has spent his time since teaching hunting "the right way" on their own 45 acres of land in Dawsonville. He has also been involved in Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts throughout the years, and Mrs. Louise Geeslin has taught piano lessons to children from all parts of Dawson County.
"As I seek to bring Common Sense Solutions and much needed adult supervision back to the U.S. Congress, I am proud to have the help and support of strong community leaders like Mr. and Mrs. Geeslin. Our campaign is fueled by people, and we are thrilled to have many of North Georgia's finest joining our campaign team, contributing and making a difference," said Stephens, who represented six of the 15 counties in the current 9th Congressional District over eight years in the Georgia State Senate.
