Georgia Department of Transportation crews are monitoring interstates and state routes in North Georgia. Overnight a mix of snow, sleet and rain fell over much of north Georgia. Georgia DOT crews will continue to check bridges and spread salt as necessary. Fallen trees and downed power lines could create roadway hazards. Georgia DOT urges extreme caution on the roadways.

The following may still have some icy patches and/or fallen trees and is being treated:

Dade County: State Route 189 southbound at Durham Road

For their own safety and the safety of the GDOT crews, all motorists are urged to slow down and leave, at least, a ten car length distance between their vehicles and the DOT trucks clearing the roadways.

Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this winter weather episode and other maintenance operations and construction projects on interstates and state routes. More information is available atwww.511ga.org
