J. M. Pelfrey, 82, of Dawsonville died Saturday January 9, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born January 28, 1927 in Fannin County to the late Morgan and Carrie Pelfrey, he moved to Dawson County from Smyrna in 1958.  Along with his son, they owned and operated Pelfrey’s Electrical Contractors.  Mr. Pelfrey was employed by Lockheed from 1958 until the Dawsonville operation closed in 1970.  He was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II where he served in the Pacific Theater and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Regenia Pelfrey, Dawsonville; son and daughter in law, Kenny and Deborah Pelfrey, Dawsonville sisters, Ida Grace Henson, Ringgold, Victoria Crider, Tunnel Hill; grandchildren, Kendy and Todd Bennett, Travis and Jody Pelfrey; great grandchildren, Taylor Bennett, Kane Pelfrey, Chloe Bennett, Emma Pelfrey.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 12, 2010 at 2 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel.  Dr. Orin Sampson will officiate.  Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
