Bridget Camacho, a 5'10" Setter/RH from Pinecrest Academy in Forsyth County, signed with Division I Virginia Commonwealth University on Thursday afternoon. Bridget was a four-year starter for the Pinecrest Academy Paladins and was named as an All-Region player for all four years and an All-State Player for the past three years. She capped off her high school career by leading her team to their first ever state title in 2009. Bridget also plays for the A5 Volleyball Club and attributes much of her success to the training and high level of competition she received from her club teams and coaches.
Bridget commented, "After visiting the VCU campus and meeting the coaches, players and academic dean of the Forensic Science department, VCU became my number one choice for schools. I also like the fact that it's just an hour outside of Washington D.C. because there's a good chance my future career might begin there."
Bridget is the second of six children. According to Coach and mom, Amy Camacho, "She picked up a volleyball for the first time when she was 13 years old and then never really put it down! She's a passionate player who plays with heart 100% of the time. Going to a school with an intense volleyball program was always her dream."
Bridget is a member of the National Honor Society and also volunteers as a teen mentor in the Pure Fashion program.
