Barbara Bennett Wilkinson, 83, of Hinesville died Sunday, Nov. 8, at Hospice of Savannah. Mrs. Wilkinson was a native of Bamberg, S.C., who was born May 2, 1926, and has lived in Hinesville for the past 41 years, having moved here from Denmark, S.C. She was a homemaker who loved to work in her yard and was very involved with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Wilkinson, and her son, Phillip Wilkinson. Survivors are sons, Charles Wilkinson of Hinesville, Robert (Kathy) Wilkinson of Chester, S.C., and Mike (Cindy) Wilkinson of Hinesville; brother, Judson E. Bennett of Olar, S.C.; sister, Elizabeth Browning of Lexington, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas L Carter Funeral Home in Flemington. Her funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Thomas L Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Judd Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Hinesville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Wilkinson, Chris Wilkinson, Robbie Browning, Lyn Browning, Dickie Bennett, Marshall Brewer and Charlie Kegley. Remembrances to Hospice of Savannah have been suggested. Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
