Billy F. Yancy August 26, 1933 - October 16, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA Billy F. Yancey of Columbus, GA passed away Thursday evening, October 16, 2009 in the comfort of his home. Funeral Services will be held to celebrate his life at 3:00 PM EST Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Vance Brooks Chapel with Reverend Dean Knipe officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening October 19, 2009 from 6:00 PM EST until 8:00 PM EST at the Funeral Home. Active Pallbearers will be Matt Orr, Chris Aaron, Stormie Huff, Jeremy Ledford, Scott Elliott and Brandon Elliott. Billy was born Saturday August 26, 1933 in Columbus, GA; son of the late Carl Vernon Yancey, Sr. and Etta Oakes Yancey. Mr. Yancey was a Korean United States Army Veteran, defending his country proudly for 21 years. Mr. Yancey was a member and Deacon of Providence Church on St. Mary's Road. He was a giving man with a heart for his family. His integrity and wisdom will continue on in life's journey without him. Other than his parents Carl and Etta, Mr. Yancey was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry, Louie, Carl, Jr. and Richard Yancey; and three sisters, Mildred Lloyd, Margaret Littleton and Dorothy Holland. Survivors include his dedicated loving wife, Barbara Boutwell Yancey, whom he shared 52 years of marriage; their children, Billy Ray Yancey and wife, Brenda of Hamilton, GA, Kim Y. Huff and husband, Stormie of Ellerslie, GA, Jeffrey S. Yancey and wife, Tammy of Columbus, GA; a brother, Charles R. Yancey of Phenix City, AL; five grandchildren, Kymber Orr and husband, Matt of Columbus, GA, Crystal Aaron and husband, Chris of Phenix City, AL, Cameron and Connor Yancey of Columbus, GA, and Mitchell Ray Yancey of Columbus, GA; two step-grandchildren, Jeremy Ledford of Columbia, TN and Holly Gibson of Warner Robins, GA; one great grandchild, Tye Bryant Orr of Columbus, GA; and four step-great grandchildren, Gabrielle Mayo and Mison Gibson, both of Warner Robins, GA, and Shelby and Stetson Ledford, both of Columbia, TN. The Yancey family expresses gratitude for the care given to Mr. Yancey by Dr. Funk and his compassionate staff and Columbus Hospice.
