Deacon Charles Williams of Valdosta, Georgia, transitioned from labor to reward on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. He was born to the late Luther Williams and Lillie Mae Williams-Cornelius on June 2, 1939. He was the owner of Charles Williams Enterprises, Inc. at the time of death. On March 1, 1959, he was united in holy matrimony to Elmon Frances Baker and to this union eight (8) children were born. He was a member of the Tabernacle Church of God in Christ where he served faithfully in many capacities including: Assistant to the Chairman Deacon, member of Trustee Board, Sunday school instructor, and advisor to many auxiliaries within the church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Missionary Elmon Frances Williams, one daughter, one son, and three brothers, Austin Brandon, James Calvin Williams, and Earnest Lee Williams.He leaves to cherish his memory six (6) children: Charles Elvin Williams, Darlene Williams, Brenda Carol Spencer (Kenneth), Minister Kenneth Nicholas Williams (Stephania), Elder James Arrodney Williams (Janice), and Carmella Denise Braswell (Pastor J. Bernard II). He is survived by two brothers, Bartow (Lucille) and Luther (Sallie) Williams, and four sisters, Catherine (Pastor Eddie) Dennard, Ethel Mae Love, Elizabeth (David) Miller, and Carolyn Dimmock. He also leaves to cherish seventeen grandchildren: Charles (Jan) Nelson, Charles Williams, II, Priscilla Williams, Sherica (Nathanial) Williams, Paul Spencer, Tramaine (Darrell) Bullock, Kenneth Williams, Jr., Desiree Davis, Kenyette Williams, Kira Williams, Kardasha Williams, Chelsea Williams, LaKrista Williams, Cedric Carter, Jr., Carmen Carter, J. Bernard Braswell III, and Cameron Jones; five great-grandchildren, one god-daughter, Cynthia Kelly, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Homegoing services for Deacon Charles Williams will be held at 11 .a.m Wednesday, December 16, 2009, from the sanctuary of Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, with Pastor Johnny Bradley, Pastor, and Elder Benjamin Love of Goldsboro, North Carolina, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill cemetery. Godfrey Funeral Home, LLC.
