Family-Placed Death Notice WINFREE, Ernest Mr. Ernest Clifton Winfree, Jr., age 83, of Duluth, GA passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Bill Head Funeral Home and Crematory Duluth Chapel with Reverend Christopher Carlton officiating. His parents, Ernest C. and Lovie Betts Winfree, and his brother Porter Gwynn Winfree, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Deloris Kneece Kendrick Winfree, his sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Brenda Winfree of Jasper, AL, Steve and Yvonne Kendrick of Suwanee, GA, daughter and son-in law, Carol and Gregg Crosby of Jasper, AL , six grandchildren, Justin Winfree, Steven Winfree, and his wife Ashley, Stephanie Crosby, Mark Crosby, Julie Kendrick, Ashley Homan and husband Chris, two nephews, and one great granddaughter. Mr. Winfree was born in Birmingham, AL. He was a member of Southside United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, FL and was a 32nd degree Mason. Mr. Winfree was drafted out of high school and served his country in the United States Army. He began his business career with Mayer Electric in Birmingham, later opening and electrical supply company in Decatur, AL. This was followed by several other businesses in the state of Alabama, which ultimately led him to Atlanta, GA with other electrical manufacturing representative businesses, the latest being Allsouth Agency. In 1973, Mr. Winfree moved to Tallahassee, FL representing Orlick Kohlmeister (Leviton). Other significant representative agencies include W.J. Milner Co., Tri-State, Marvin Bochner Inc., and finally GCA (Gunn, Creel, and Associates) where he spent the final 17 1/2 years of his business career. Mr. Winfree and his wife retired in Duluth, GA 2 1/2 years ago. He died after a brief illness complicated by Parkinsons disease. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delmar Gardens of Gwinnett (Nursing Facility) or The National Parkinson Foundation. Ernie was loved by everyone who knew him in the electrical Industry I along with eveyone else in Jacksonville miss him & will have great memories of him , he really cared about everybody...
Mr. Ernie was the first sales representative I met in the this business, a wonderful person always willing to help and always upbeat and smiling who let everyone know how much he loved life, his family and the business. I loved ol Ernie and this world is missing a special person I and my family would like to send our heartfelt sympathy.
Mr. Ernie was a good friend and a special person and he will surely be missed. He was a true salesman and a good one at that. He was well liked by everyone and respected in the industry.My thoughts and Prayers to him and his family.
