AIKEN, S.C. - Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 22, 2009, Ms. Ida Harrell Thomas, age 88, of Aiken, S.C., wife of the late Robert "Bob" Thomas, Sr. and daughter of the late Cleveland Harrell and the late Carrie Randall Harrell. She is survived by a son, Robert "Bobby" W. (Lynne) Thomas, Jr. of Warrenville, S.C.; three grandsons, Shane (Karie) Thomas, Robert (Dana) Thomas III, and Dustin (Rachel) Thomas; four great grandchildren; nieces, Carolyn Shivers, Becky Cook, Terry Cromer, and Jennifer Coleman; and best friend and cousin, Mary Ellen McMahan. She was born in Adrian, Ga. but has lived in Aiken County for over 70 years. She retired from Southern Bell after 34 years of service and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a dedicated member of Graniteville First Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother; and although she shall be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched, there is a consolation in knowing that life for her has not ended, but only begun in a better land. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, at Sunset Memory Gardens in Graniteville with Rev. Gene Wilson and Speaker Charles Hilton officiating. The pallbearers will be nephews: David Cook, Ian Cook, Cullen Cook, Keith Cromer, Matthew Cromer, Cory Cromer, Stacey Coleman, and Madison Coleman. The family will receive friends this Monday evening, August 24th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Napier Funeral Home. Memorials, in Ms. Thomas' honor, may be made to Graniteville First Baptist Church, 76 Canal St., Graniteville, S.C. 29829, Connie Maxwell Home for Children, or Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way Suite D, Aiken, S.C. 29803. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S.C., is in charge of arrangements. Sign the guestbook at AugustaChronicle.com
