James Leonard TimmonsCORDELE - A graveside service for James Leonard Timmons was held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at Sunnyside Cemetery. Rev. James Kelley and Rev. Royce Freeman conducted the service and Rainey Family Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. A CD of "Go Rest High On That Mountain". Pallbearers were Bobby Mixon, Frank Bullington, Randy Brown, Mark Allen, Trevor Bartlett, Augustus Telfair, Danny Parham and Reginald Patrick, all members of the Cordele Fire Department. Firefighters from the Cordele Fire Department, Crisp County Fire Department and retired firefighters served as honorary pallbearers.Mr. Timmons, 77, passed away Monday at Crisp Regional Hospital. He was born in Crisp County and was the son of the late James Rhollie and Nannie Mae Thomason Timmons. Mr. Timmons was a fireman (RET) for the Cordele Fire Department and attended Third Street Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Timmons is survived by a brother and his wife, Marvin and Sharon Timmons of Cordele; two sisters, Ethel Willard and Faustine Wiley and her husband, Grady, all of Cordele; a brother-in-law, Bill Clayton of Americus; a niece, Janis Warren; and four nephews, Hollis Clayton and his wife, Peggy, Wesley Willard, Dennis Willard and Barry Wiley and his wife, Bonnie.He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Clayton. Rainey Family Funeral Service had charge of these arrangements. Family and friends may post their condolences on-line at www.raineyfuneral.com.
