Jerome "Sonny" Lawrence Weldon, 67, of Hahira, died on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Hahira to the late Grover C. and Katherine Weldon he had been a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Weldon worked for Merita Bread Company as a delivery man for many years. Survivors include four sons and two daughters in law, Steve and Karen Weldon of Hahira, Anthony Weldon of Conyers, Gary and Sandy Weldon of Valdosta, and Donnie Weldon of Hahira; a daughter and son in law, Michelle and Mark Baldree of Ray City; five brothers and four sisters in law, George Harold and Judy Weldon of Gay, Calvin Weldon of Hahira, Tommy and Maureen Weldon of Hahira, Allen and Brenda Weldon of Adel, and Doug and Kathy Weldon of Hahira; and two sisters and one brother in law, Carolyn Taylor of Hahira and Ann and Gary Graves of Albany. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren Crissy Megow, Emily Darling, Bobby Weldon, Allen Weldon, Taylor Weldon, Dawson Weldon, Heather Howell, Joseph Weldon, Jordan Weldon, Victoria Weldon, Anieyssa Weldon, Dustin Baldree, Brandon Baldree and Mikayla Baldree; and two great grandchildren, Stevie Megow and Neela Megow. Mr. Weldon is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Mae Bailey Weldon. Funeral services for Mr. Weldon will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Rev. Don Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery in Hahira. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Hahira this evening, Monday November 30, 2009.
