Mary Jean Young, age 58, of Summit St., Gainesville, passed away Oct. 1, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at noon at St. John Baptist Church with interment to follow in Greater Timberidge Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Calvin Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Young was born June 3, 1951, in Hall County to the late Leroy Goss and Johnnie Mae Goss Johnson. She was employed with Makita Power Tools and was a member of New Gainesville Seven Day Adventist Church. Mrs. Young is survived by her husband, Douglas Young of Gainesville; her son, Richard Deshea Young of Gainesville; stepchildren, April Young of Gainesville, Chaun Young of Cornelia, Zachary Young of Jonesboro, Sabrina Young of Bronx, N.Y., and Tony Holland of Gainesville; sisters, Kelly Goss, Clouis Turner, Lydian Goss, Beverly Reed and Mattie Powell; and brothers, Leroy Goss Jr., Jerry Goss, Jeffery Goss and Zachary Pickens.
