SYLVESTER Mimmie Lee Mauldin Vance, 90, of Sylvester, formerly of Tifton, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at Pine Shadows Retirement Manor. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Banks Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery with Dr. Ben Bush officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to the hour of service today at Banks Funeral Home.Mrs. Vance was born Nov. 30, 1918 in Turner County to the late John Thomas Mauldin and Millie Sumner Mauldin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Harris Vance Sr., who died Nov. 26, 1996; siblings, Ida Mae Wood, John R. Mauldin, O.B. Mauldin, Mary Van Russell, Sara Lou Gay and Edith Herbert; and a daughter, Paula Ardith Vance.Mrs. Vance was a homemaker and had lived in Tifton for most of her life. She enjoyed gardening and giving speeches on growing roses to local garden clubs. She also enjoyed sewing and china painting. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tifton where she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the W.M.U.Mrs. Vance is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia V. and Morris Bryant of Sylvester; son, Aubrey Harris Vance Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren and their spouses, Algenia B. and Sonny Skinner of Sylvester, Joseph Vance and Kristi Bryant of Tifton, Carrilee V. and Rich Jeffries of Phoenix, Ariz., and Angie Vance of Tifton; great-grandchildren, Marlee Skinner, Emily, Sarah and Joseph Bryant and Sophia Amanda Jeffries; and siblings, Vera Bell Hill of Ashburn, James G. Mauldin of Sycamore, Charles Mauldin of Lake Sinclair, Edward Mauldin of Columbus and Jerry Mauldin of Las Vegas, Nev.Banks Funeral Home in Sylvester is in charge of arrangements.
