TIFTON Robert Y. Wilson, 88, of Tifton, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at Tift Health Care. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at Tifton's First United Methodist Church. Dr. Glenn Martin will officiate with a private burial to be held at a later date in Portsmouth, Ohio.Mr. Wilson was born on May 22, 1921 in Stout, Ohio, and was the son of Everett Wilson and Ruby Eulett Wilson, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Opal Penn. He was a retired safety technician in heavy construction and attended Tifton's First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and a charter member of the Masonic Lodge in Ohio. He was originally from Ohio and had lived in Tifton for one year and had previously lived in Louisiana and Texas.Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Jewell Kennard Wilson of Tifton; one daughter, Jeanene Wilson of Magnolia, Texas; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.You may sign the online guest registry at www.bowen-donaldson.com.
