Newspaper Reporter DEARING, Ga. - Mrs. Verna J. Sharpe Wier, 87, entered into rest on Friday, November 13, 2009, at the McDuffie Regional Medical Center. Services for Mrs. Wier will be held on January 4, 2010, at 2PM in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Mrs. Wier was born in Alexandria, Pennsylvania to the late Raymond Vincent Sharpe and Mable Ruth Laird Wall Sharpe Isenburg Ryles. She has been a member of the Sweet Adeline's since 1960 and also founded the Sweet Adeline's Chapter in Winter Haven, Florida. Mrs. Wier was a reporter for 13 years for the News Chief in Winter Haven, Florida. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Robert Chedwick, Sr. and Edmund Wier; brothers James Sharpe, Raymond (Buss) Sharpe; sister Sylvia Sharpe Wentz and son-in-law Ronnie Skinner. Survivors include four daughters, Bonnie Skinner, Dearing, Chandra Smith, Fla., Helen Ann (Billy) Pender, Fla., Cheryl Janice Marlin, Fla.; two sons, Robert (Judy) Chedwick, Jr. and Buddy Chedwick, both of Florida; one sister Carol (Noel) Robbins, Dominican Republic; and 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.
