William F. Van Dinter, Sr. January 17, 1934 - December 31, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA William "Bill" F. Van Dinter, Sr., age 75, resident of Columbus, died on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Vista Care Hospice, Franciscan Woods Assisted Living. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus on Tuesday, January 5, 2009, 1 p.m. with Reverend Dan Tharpe officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 4, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Van Dinter, son of the late Willard Joseph Van Dinter and Gladys Sachs Van Dinter, was born January 17, 1934 in Kelso, WA. He was retired from Realty Investment Property Management where he faithfully served as a property manager. Mr. Van Dinter was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country honorably as a Major in the Vietnam Era Conflict, while assigned to the 173rd Airborne (Sky Soldiers). He was a Lutheran by faith and served as Past President of the North Columbus Exchange Club. Mr. Van Dinter was preceded in death by his wife, Claire Van Dinter; a brother, Charles "Chuckie" Van Dinter; and a sister, Elaine Shields. He is survived by three sons, William "Bill" F. Van Dinter and his wife, Allison of Columbus, John M. Van Dinter of Midland, GA, and Charles Eric Van Dinter of Woodstock, GA; one sister, Dorothy Johnson and her husband, Herman of Longview, WA; three brothers, Dewey Van Dinter and his wife, Nancy of Hoquiam, WA, Daryl Van Dinter and his wife, Debi of Graham, WA, and Raymon Van Dinter and his wife, Jill of Woodland, WA; two grandchildren, Dalton and Ryan; other relatives and friends.
