Atlanta, May 26, 2009 -- While recent rains have raised the level of Lake Lanier significantly, the lake is still far from secure. Residents and businesses around the lake are working to protect and preserve the lake for future generations.
The June 1 Lake Lanier Association Golf Tournament is an opportunity to raise both money and awareness about the issues Lake Lanier still faces.
WHAT: The 7th Annual Lake Lanier Association Golf Tournament, The Jaime Baray Memorial Golf Tournament
WHEN: Monday, June 1, 2009
WHERE: PineIsle Golf Club & Resort at Lake Lanier Islands
The Lake Lanier Association serves as the voice of citizens around the lake and across the region, striving to represent all aspects and users of the lake, from recreation to fish and wildlife to homeowners. The association seeks to use a balanced approach to protect Lake Lanier, recommending reasonable solutions to issues that affect the lake, such as water quality and water quantity.
This golf tournament is dedicated to the memory of Jaime Baray, a long-time Lake Lanier resident and tireless advocate for Lake Lanier who passed away in September 2008. Jaime had served on the Lake Lanier Board of Directors since 2001 and he organized the association’s first Golf Tournament in 2003.
Founded in 1966, the Lake Lanier Association (LLA) is the oldest volunteer organization working to protect and preserve the water quality and water level of Lake Lanier for future generations.
