DAWSONVILLE, Ga. (May 29, 2009) – Bill Elliott Racing left Lanier National Speedway (Braselton, Ga.) two weeks ago with their best team finish when Chase Elliott won his first Late Model race in only his seventh start and Casey Roderick finished runner-up after starting from the pole and leading 96 laps. The team returns to their home track this Saturday for round four of the Georgia Asphalt Series (GAS) with Roderick leading the championship standings by four points over teammate Elliott.

Preview: Chase Elliott – No. 9 Aaron’s Lucky Dog Dream Machine

Thirteen-year-old Elliott, a native of nearby Dawsonville, Ga., is looking to repeat his strong performance at Lanier two weeks ago. The driver of the No. 9 Aaron’s Dream Machine ran at the top of the charts in both practice sessions, leading one round, qualified second and followed teammate Roderick for 96 laps before taking over the lead to win his first Late Model race. The big win put Elliott in the history books as the youngest winner of a sanctioned LM race at Lanier and also the youngest GAS winner ever.

Elliott also made his first career Dirt Late Model start over Memorial Day weekend at Boyd’s Speedway near Chattanooga, Tenn. Elliott, who has tested on dirt several times, elected to start the “A” Main Feature from the rear of the field while he gained a feel for the car. After starting 18th in the 24-car field, Elliott charged through the field to advance 11 positions in 20-laps to finish seventh in his first dirt race.

After three GAS races, Elliott sits second in season standings with 411 points, only four points out of first.

Preview: Casey Roderick – No. 19 Bill Elliott Racing Ford

In 14 total career Late Model starts, Lawrenceville, Georgia’s Roderick has ten top-10 and six top-5 finishes and has accumulated an impressive average finish of 7.36.

In 2009, Roderick has shown that he can wheel a car around Lanier National Speedway. In his first career Super Late Model start during SpeedFest in January, the sixteen-year-old driver qualified on the pole and led a field of Late Model stars, including NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch, for 100 laps before a failed transmission resulted in a DNF (26th).

In the most recent GAS race at Lanier, Roderick again dominated the field, setting the fastest time in one practice, qualifying on the pole and leading 96 of 100 laps in the Pro Late Model feature before the handling started slipping away on the No. 19. Roderick finished runner-up to teammate Elliott to post his best finish of 2009 and match his best career finish.

With an average finish of 4.0 this season, Roderick finds himself atop the GAS championship standings going into the fourth race.
