MIDNIGHT CLEAR From Dahlonega, GA

Midnight Clear, a relatively new Indie band from Dahlonega, Georgia, has taken the CBS Early Show Living Room Battle of the Bands by storm this summer.

When drummer, Rory Knapton learned of the contest CBS was hosting this summer, he quickly shot a music video of the band - Derrick Gaddis, guitar, Jeremy French, vocals, and Brant French, Bass, Keyboards, vocals - in the living room of the beautiful home he built for his family on his own.

The band was home in Georgia from a stint in England where they were held over by The Cavern Club in Liverpool, (The Beatles old stomping ground) an unprecedented five days.  Brothers Brant and Jeremy French had taken off to Savanah for a little down time.  Little thought was given to anything actually coming from the entry.

The day Knapton got the phone call from the CBS Early Show telling him Midnight Clear had been chosen to compete from over 100,000 entries was a miraculous day in deed.

Since then, the band has been in a flurry of activity, having made it through both the first and second rounds easily - winning by huge margins.

On Monday, September 17 the band will enter the final round of competition.  Voting will take place from 9 a.m. Monday, September 17 through Noon on Wednesday, September 19.

Voters may vote as many times as they like and CBS has made voting easy.  Just log on to: www.cbsnews.com.  Click on the link at the top of the page for The Early Show.  Then scroll down a bit on the left and look for The Living Room Battle of the Bands contest box.  You simply click on the button for Midnight Clear and hit send.  You can repeat as often as you like, and drummer Knapton assures us that every vote by every individual is more than appreciated.

Where did the name Midnight Clear come from?  Around midnight one evening, after a long practice session, the band walked outside into Knapton's yard to get a bit of fresh air.  The night was calm and clear and Knapton remarked about what a peaceful, beautiful night it was.  This led to an impromtu singing of "It Came Upon The Midnight Clear" by the band members.  When they finished singing, the band had a name.
