The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a wind advisory for much of North Georgia, which is in effect from 12 pm to 6 pm EST Tuesday.

A cold front is expected to sweep across North and Central Georgia tonight and early Tuesday. Strong gusty northwest winds are expected to develop behind the front during the afternoon. The advisory area is generally along and north of a line from Franklin to Peachtree City to Greensboro.

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 20 to 35 mph or wind gusts of at least 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. In addition, these strong winds are expected to cause a significant chop on area lakes. Boaters are urged to use extra caution.
