Sandy Springs is already a city. Johns Creek just won final approval. Now, it's Dunwoody's turn.
On Monday, the state Senate is set to vote on a new city of Dunwoody.
The current proposal puts the boundaries at I-285 on the south, the Fulton County line on the west and north, and the borders of Gwinnett County and the city of Doraville on the east.
“I don’t know what benefit being in a city of Dunwoody would be. I’d have to have that explalined to me more,” said 38-year-old Dunwoody area resident Bill Watkins.
Watkins was like a lot of people at the Old Hickory House. Curious about a city of Dunwoody, but wanting to hear more.
Backers of a city plan have modeled their effort on Fulton County communities like Sandy Springs and Johns Creek.
But those leaders complained they weren’t getting their share of services from Fulton County. Dunwoody backers like Senator Daniel Weber say DeKalb services aren't the problem, they say the county has not heard their concerns on growth and zoning.
