A.S.C.E.N.D.-ER, Inc. (Autism Spectrum Community Efforts and New Directions, Exceptional Resources), a non-profit support group in Forsyth County, for parents of children on the Autism Spectrum, will hold their next week meeting on Tuesday, November 29th, 2005, 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Parkway Presbyterian Church on Bethelview Road.

Professional investigator and journalist, Dennis Debbaudt, will present Autism and Law Enforcement Training. Dennis turned his attention to autism spectrum disorders in 1987 after his son was diagnosed with this condition. His 1994 booklet Avoiding Unfortunate Situations became the first to address the interactions between children and adults with autism and law enforcement professionals. Since then, he's authored numerous articles and books for Autism Advocates and Law Enforcement.

This is truly a MUST ATTEND meeting. Parents of autistic children are urged to invite their child's teachers, principals and service providers, friends and family to this special important meeting. The training offers tips and options for communications and responses designed to successfully resolve a call involving a person with autism or Asperger Syndrome. Everyone will come away with a good, practical understanding of the best approaches when they interact with children and adults who are affected by autism spectrum disorders.

Mr. Debbaudt will also be holding training sessions in Forsyth County for our law enforcement personnel thanks to the fund-raising efforts of A.S.C.E.N.D.-ER, Inc.'s members.

Please contact (678)254-5019 for more information about our group and meetings.
