Twenty students from Banneker, Creekside, Tri-Cities, and Westlake high schools are participating in Microsoft’s BAM! Minority Student Day on February 10.
The daylong BAM! (Blacks @ Microsoft) event allows students to watch demonstrations of new technology under development, and learn about career opportunities in the software industry. Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates will address students via videoconference.
The event seeks to motivate minority students to pursue careers in information technology. Microsoft points out that although the company is always seeking the best and brightest technology professionals, many other positions are available. The company has positions for artists, writers, lawyers, sales account managers, marketing representatives, technical consultants, and even television producers.
The event will be 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the regional Microsoft Sales Office, 1125 Sanctuary Parkway in Alpharetta.
