The Fulton County School System announces that Lenny Forti is the new principal of Sweet Apple Elementary School.
Mr. Forti was an assistant principal at Sweet Apple for seven years until moving to Cogburn Woods Elementary School in 2004. He also was an assistant principal at Barnwell, Lake Windward, Mountain Park, and Roswell (now Roswell North) elementary schools, and has taught at Woodland Elementary Charter School. He graduated from the State University College of New York (B.S., physical education) and Georgia State University (M.Ed., Educational Administration; Ed.S., Educational Administration).
Westlake High School Principal Darron Franklin has been named the new principal of Bear Creek Middle School. He fills the position left open by Sandra DeShazier, who will become principal of the new Jones-Hall Site elementary school next school year.
Before Westlake, Mr. Franklin was an assistant principal at Chattahoochee and Tri-Cities high schools, and was a teacher at Paul D. West Middle School. He also taught at a middle school in Lamar County and is a graduate of West Georgia College (B.B.A, Finance; M.Ed., Middle Grades Education; M.Ed., Educational Leadership; and Ed.S., Educational Leadership.)
Sandra McGary-Ervin from Sandtown Middle School will become Westlake High’s new principal. She has been Sandtown’s principal since its opening in 2004 and previously was a principal, assistant principal, administrator, and teacher in Cobb County. She holds degrees from the University of Tennessee (B.S, Special Education), West Georgia College (M.Ed., Special Education), and Lincoln Memorial University (Ed.S., Educational Leadership).
