Free English instruction is being offered to parents in the Sandy Springs community who wish to become more fluent in the language. Research has shown that student achievement improves with increased parent involvement, and parents are more willing to become involved if they are confident in speaking the language of the school environment.

The seven-week course begins in January. Beginning and intermediate levels are offered, and parents who successfully complete the course can advance to the next level of classes to be offered in the spring.

For more information, contact Julia Grimaldo at Sandy Springs Middle School at 770-552-4970. She is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portugese.
