Brian Statham, a British kindergarten teacher at Creek View Elementary School, has been named “National Cultural Educator of the Year” by the Visiting International Faculty Program (VIF). VIF is the United States’ largest international-exchange program for U.S. schools and teachers worldwide.
Three additional exchange teachers were honored for excellence in international education. Laurene McIntosh (Seaborn Lee Elementary School), a first grade teacher from Scotland, and Angel Sanz Sainz (Ridgeview Middle School), a Spanish language teacher from Spain, were named “Outstanding Cultural Ambassadors.” Katie Farr (New Prospect Elementary School), a third grade teacher from England, was named a “VIF Honoree” for excellence in international education.
In addition, Webb Bridge Middle School Principal Elizabeth Fogartie was named “Georgia VIF Principal of the Year.”
VIF sponsored 51 international teachers in the Fulton County School System this year, providing schools highly qualified teachers that give students a world-class education. The awards were presented at the annual VIF awards celebration held April 28.
