ATLANTA -- HomeAid Atlanta, a non-profit organization that builds and renovates transitional housing to give Atlanta’s temporarily homeless children, women and men the opportunity to turn their lives around, is proud to announce Northstar Builders and Developers as the builders of the raffle playhouse for Project Playhouse 2006. Project Playhouse, the organization’s signature fundraiser, is now in its third year.
Builders, along with their respective teams will donate their time, talent and materials to construct five, state-of-the art mini-mansions to participate in the event, which supports HomeAid Atlanta’s mission of building dignified housing for Atlanta’s temporarily homeless.
For Northstar Builders and Developers, participation in Project Playhouse is a way to make a difference in the community in a creative way. “We have found it to be challenging and rewarding - but most of all it is fun! To see the children's faces light up at an exquisite home just their size is a great part of it, but to know that it is for a good cause is the real reason why we participate,” said Lila Adams, the builder of the raffle playhouse.
“A safe haven is one of the single most important aspects of security we have - in good times, but more importantly in the bad times. As a builder of homes, we can provide shelter for those that cannot buy a home but need that shelter the most,” said Adams.
Northstar Builders and Developers will be constructing a summer vacation-themed home appropriately named, “The Summer House.” The Summer House will feature a whimsical suspended bed surrounded by pillows, sliding wooden doors protected with phantom screens, custom cabinetry filled with books, games and a sink for cleaning up after creative art projects, outside decks and an outdoor shower. The Summer House is the perfect place to enjoy a good book and a tall glass of lemonade and to make summer memories that will last a lifetime.
Northstar Builders and Developers, one of Atlanta’s premier homebuilders for five generations, builds approximately 250 homes annually in Gwinnett, Hall, DeKalb, Forsyth and Jackson counties, with home prices ranging from the $140’s to $500’s.
HomeAid welcomes seasoned builder, Northstar Builders and Developers to the event for the second year in a row. Also building playhouses are Country Classic Builders, Dovetail Homes, Harcrest Homes and Lanier Resort Homes.
The five playhouses will be open for viewing weekends only beginning September 9, and will be on display through October 21. Raffle tickets will be sold to win the playhouse built by Northstar Builders and Developers. The remaining four playhouses will be sold at a live, public auction to be held the evening of October 21. All proceeds, including raffle and auction ticket sales, will help HomeAid Atlanta to further its mission of providing shelter facilities to the city’s temporarily homeless.
There are over 11,000 homeless children, women and men on any given night in metro Atlanta. HomeAid Atlanta’s Project Playhouse event garners an essential part of the funds needed to support HomeAid Atlanta’s transitional housing construction that will provide homes for families in need.
HomeAid Atlanta is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working in partnership with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, and is a local chapter of HomeAid, the nation's largest provider of transitional housing for the temporarily homeless. The HomeAid mission is to build dignified housing where homeless families and individuals can rebuild their lives. This is accomplished through the donation of construction services and materials from members of the home building industry. Through projects completed and in development, HomeAid Atlanta will have preserved/added 272 shelter beds throughout metro Atlanta since 2001.
