Alpharetta, GA CJuly 20, 2006CPrudential Georgia Realty=s 400 North, Dahlonega and Dawsonville offices are putting on the 2nd Annual Ticket to Ride Horse Shows to benefit the Sunshine Kids Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that assists kids with cancer.

Some form of cancer affects, on average, more than 12,000 children in the United States each year. Cancer is still the leading cause of death by disease in children under the age of 15. The goal of the Sunshine Kids Foundation is to help families deal with this disease and to help these children have a quality of life by providing them with positive group activities and outings so they can do what kids are supposed to do---have fun and celebrate life.

The 150+ agent team of the Prudential Georgia Realty Cumming, Dahlonega and Dawsonville offices have banded together to put on another horse show series this year, called Ticket to Ride. Last year’s event raised more than $25,000 for the Sunshine Kids Foundation and the offices have set a lofty goal of at least doubling that amount. This year, the event will be supported by a well known, local celebrity to help get word out about this important cause.

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy has signed on to be the official celebrity spokesperson for the Ticket to Ride Horse Shows. Although prior obligations prevent him from personally attending this year’s event, Mr. Foxworthy has agreed to be present in years to come, and has recorded messages to be played advertising the event and to be played at the event. He has also donated several items for the event’s silent auction, including signed t-shirts and a signed poster of the Blue Collar Tour. More than 150 other items have been donated for the silent auction, which ends Sunday, July 30th at noon, including two airline tickets from AirTran, Kenny Chesney concert tickets, jewelry and numerous gift certificates. There are also signed collectors sports items, a tennis racquet signed by Maria Sharapova, furniture, art, exercise equipment and more.

The 2nd Annual Ticket to Ride Horse Show will be held July 27th-July 30th at the Wills Park Equestrian Center in Alpharetta. It is open to the public, with events scheduled for each day. Concessions will be available at the park as will numerous vendors with other items for sale. All net proceeds from the event, including numerous corporate sponsorships, will go directly to the Sunshine Kids Foundation.

July 27th will include an Equitation Clinic by top trainer Marilee Ventura (named a past Horseperson of the Year). July 28th will feature horse class competitions and a welcome party and BBQ for which tickets will be required. Saturday, July 29th, will be the biggest night of the four-day event, including a Pro Am/Junior Relay, Grand Hunter Classic, and a Calcutta event in which spectators get to bid on teams participating. Reserve box seats, which will include dinner, are still available. For information on any of these events, contact Lorie Shepperd at 770-205-3588. The final day, July 30th, will have Georgia Hunter Jumper Association class competitions.

Prudential Georgia Realty Managing Broker Robert Aiken has been impressed with the team effort of his offices. “My agents work very hard to make a difference in their local community. The fact that this event will also help many children has given them even more incentive to participate.”
