ATLANTA – Art Institute of Atlanta student Estin Guerrero is a finalist in a nationwide contest sponsored by Avid Technology. Contestants had to submit a 60-second video called “I’m avid for…”, capturing the essence of something they are truly passionate about. Estin’s video was “I’m avid for…my couch!” He placed third in a contest with more than 5,000 entries, and he received the latest version of Avid Xpress Pro as his prize.

Twenty-two years old, Estin is in his eighth quarter in digital media production. He found out about the contest at the very last minute from his teacher at The Art Institute of Atlanta, David Reeder, who suggested that everyone in his Nonlinear Editing class shoot and edit a piece for submission. Estin barely made the deadline, and when his mom told him Avid Technology was on the phone, he assumed they were just asking his T-shirt size! Instead, he found out that out of thousands of entries, “I’m Avid for…my couch!” had placed third.
Estin’s interest in film/video production began at the age of 13 when he had to deliver a presentation on the Civil War. He decided to shoot a clay-mation battle sequence on an old JVC camcorder while doing in-camera editing. It was a tedious process, but he was happy with the finished product. And he realized that film and video production was what he wanted to do. With the continuous advances in technology, Estin’s creativity now has no limits in its expression.
Estin lives with his parents, Edmund and Delma Guerrero, in the Coventry Green neighborhood of Roswell.
The Art Institute of Atlanta is one of The Art Institutes (www.artinstitutes.edu), with 32 educational institutions located throughout North America, providing an important source of design, media arts, fashion and culinary arts professionals.
